Have you wanted a rug for a certain spot and couldn't fine one you like? Then let Lisa teach you how to make one. We'll take a "jelly roll" of fabric, batting, and thread and turn them into a rug of your choice with a diameter of about 36 inches.
This is a two-day workshop. Bring snacks, drinks (and lunch for Saturday).
You will need a good working sewing machine that makes straight and zigzag stitches, since those are all we'll be using, and items from a provided list once you've registered. That list will be emailed to you.
Supplies Fee is $75 if furnished by instructor (pay to instructor) or you can shop for your own supplies. A supplies list will be emailed to those who wish to purchase their own materials.
To register contact Jim Thomas at 706-878-3300
Once you've registered, email Lisa:
lisainstitches109@gmail.com
Include the subject, rug class. She will send you a materials list and links to her
favorite products and sites. (Some sites have frequent sales!)
You will have time to make a leather shoulder bag of your choice, or choose from any of the following projects: Leather belt, wallet, passport wallet, journal, phone belt pouch, drawstring pouch, lady's wallet, clutch purse and more.
Depending on the project you will be able to learn techniques of cutting leather and stitching styles. If desired, you can learn how to use a wood burning tool to inscribe a design directly on to the leather and then colorize it.
All leathers, materials, tools and instructions are provided, along with templates. No artistic ability is necessary, nor is any previous leather working experience. You do not need to bring anything except lunch, enthusiasm, and your desire to make something beautiful.
Meditation is said to be mind's gift to itself. In this 15-to-20-minute guided meditation beginners as well as advanced practitioners will use breath, visualization, and mantra to rest in the nature of mind. A brief introductory talk will be given for those new to meditation and/or curious about basic Buddhist principles. We will have a few available cushions but bringing your own can only help. There is no charge, but donations for the space and tea are happily accepted. Contact Eric Graves at emgravez@yahoo.com with any questions.
