14th Annual Folk Pottery Show & Arts Festival

The Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia will hold the 14th annual Folk Pottery Show & Arts Festival Saturday, September 3. Admission to the festival is free for all visitors.
Festival goers will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful pottery of northeast Georgia folk potters, set up in our historic gym. Visitors will be able to cast their vote on their favorite piece made by a local folk potter. Heritage art vendors will be set up to sell their wares across the lawn of the SNC campus. In the Community Hall, visitors can participate in the Festival raffle to win pieces created by festival artists.
The featured exhibit in the Folk Pottery Museum is "The Men Won't Tell Us Anything". Women of Georgia Folk Pottery About the Exhibit (born 1950s - today). The exhibit highlights the work of Anita Meaders, Mary Meaders Adams, Kathy Meaders, Jamie Ferguson and others. Live demonstrations will take place in the museum's display throughout the day.
Additionally, the African-American Heritage Site and the Cultural Center, located on the SNC campus, will welcome visitors. About the Heritage Site The Heritage Site features a restored slave cabin from the northeast Georgia mountains and a blacksmith shop built on site. Both will be staffed, with a blacksmith demonstrating on an open forge.
In the Cultural Center, festival goers may visit the local history museum and two gallery shops featuring work by northeast Georgia artists in a variety of media. The gallery shops will house more pottery for sale in the Miracles of Mud show. Paintings by Laura Nagel, the hallway invitational artist, will also be available for sale.
On the outdoor stage, musicians will gather for an old-time music jam in the morning. Eliot Sperin will take the stage Map of Campus from 2 PM to 4 PM. Food vendor concessions will be on campus with food available for purchase.

Interested in being a vendor at this year's festival?
Vendors will be outside and must bring their own tents and set-up equipment. First-time vendors must submit pictures of their artwork with their application. The registration deadline is Friday August 19, and the fee is $80. Turn in your application before August 1st for a $20 dollar discount!
