Our Annual Summer Celebration of the Arts

The Sautee Nacoochee Center presents its 19th Annual Cultural Arts Festival – SummerFest – June and July, 2008. This six-week event features music, history, performing arts, exhibits, storytelling, demonstrations and children’s activities – both indoors and out! Designated a Top Twenty Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, we invite you to vacation in the historic Sautee and Nacoochee valleys this summer where you’ll be enriched and entertained!

SummerFest 2008 Calendar of Events

June 13

Opening Lawn Party
A festival with music, food, arts, and fun. Free admission. Party starts at 6:30 pm. The music of the evening will be Houndog starting at 8:00 pm. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and come be apart of the fun.

 

Food is $8 a plate.

 

Art Studio Spring Show Community Hall 5:00–7:00 pm.

Evening Star Concert — David Wilcox
"Music is a place where you have to tell the truth about what you've been through, who you are, and where you're going."
8:00 PM, Center Theatre, $15 plus tax for members, $20 plus tax for non-members, $8 plus tax for ages 6–17, under 6 free. Reservations encouraged.

Rising Appalachia
Rising Appalachia's eerie banjo originals, gritty lyrics and effortless sister harmonies are compared to that of Ani Difranco, The Be Good Tanyas, and even Bjork. At the close of the show get ready for some awesome fire dancing performed by Rising Appalachia.

Sautee Nacoochee Community Chorale Performances
Under the direction of Barbara Luhn, this corps of 40 plus voices delivers riveting movie-themed melodies. The chorus is so sensational, people often return for a second performance!

Headwaters :: Stories From A Goodly Portion Of Beautiful Northeast Georgia
Headwaters :: Stories From A Goodly Portion Of Beautiful Northeast Georgia returns this year with a new story, a new song or two, and more time with the bears.
Headwaters will run from July 10th to the 27th, Thursdays through Sundays (one more performance each week), with many of the same cast members as last year and new additions your sure to adore.
Performances at 8:00 PM Thurs – Sat, 2:00 PM Sunday.
Group and theatre/dinner packages available.
