White County
CORK & KEG FESTIVAL
Beer and Wine Festival
presented by the
Sautee Nacoochee Community Association
in scenic Alpine Helen
Last year, the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association asked the question, “Can beer drinkers and wine drinkers get along under one roof?” The answer was a resounding, “Yes!”
So, it’s time to get your mouth watering for the second annual White County Cork & Keg Festival. And this time, you’ll want to bring your dancing shoes.
The Cork & Keg Festival (May 14) returns to the Festhalle in Alpine Helen and will once again feature craft-brewed beers from some of the nation’s top independent brewers, national and regional award-winning wines, and delicious goodies from some of the area’s best eateries.
Winemakers and brewers will be on hand to enlighten festival participants on the unique aspects of each product, and everyone with a ticket gets a free beer glass, courtesy of Sweetwater Brewing, plus one free meal ticket. Wine glasses also are available.
After the beer and wine tasting (2:30-6 p.m.), there will be a sonic surge of energy as the music begin as the legendary Col. Bruce Hampton takes the stage. One of the most influential pioneers of the so-called jamband scene, Hampton brings his eclectic brand of surreal and danceable rock and roll back to the Helen area with a new all-start line up of musicians called the Pharoah Gummit.
Col. Bruce and the Pharoah Gummit will occupy center stage from
7-10 p.m.
Come celebrate spring in the Northeast Georgia mountains at the home of the longest-running Oktoberfest celebration in the U.S., all if it a short walk from the hotels, shops, eateries and attractions in Alpine Helen.
Admission is limited to first 400 ticket buyers – 21 and over only, please. Delicious goodies will also be available for purchase, as will plenty of Sweetwater beer by the glass during the concert.
All proceeds will support the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association (SNCA), a 501c3 non-profit organization committed to the cultural arts, environmental protection and historic preservation.
For more information, visit www.snca.org/performingarts/cork&keg or call 706-878-3300. Keep checking back for deals on accommodations in the area – you’ll want to stay a while!
SNCA maintains the Sautee Nacoochee Center, a thriving cultural and community center housed in a restored rural schoolhouse. The Center offers a folk pottery museum, theatre, gallery, art studio, dance studio, history museum, heritage site, nature preserve, environmental studies room and conference facilities. SNCA has established Sautee Nacoochee as an official Historic District and one of . . .
"The 100 Best Small Arts Towns in America."
In addition to SNCA, sponsors include Sweetwater Brewing, the Helen Chamber of Commerce, Alpine Helen/White County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, and the White County Chamber of Commerce. |
