Last year at this time The Center Gallery was branching out by
expanding across the hallway into Gallery Too. This year the galleries are
again branching out by presenting a forest-and- tree-themed exhibit which
begins January 15 and will continue through February 28.
“Branching Out” features soft, delicately detailed pencil and graphite art
by Larry Compton. His “Forest Floor” series will
include compositions of leaves, branches, ferns
and other forest floor materials. Larry will present
some of his oil painting landscapes in addition to
his “Forest Floor” work.
Patty Workman’s featured art includes her
lovely graphic trees. Most of Patty’s pen and ink
compositions extend the drawing of the tree
beyond the artwork and onto the mat around
the tree giving a third dimensional effect. Patty
softens many of her works by adding watercolor
highlights. Others are kept black and white for a
dramatic effect.
Also featured in the “Branching Out” exhibit are several paintings by
Patrice Lynne Young. Single trees, groups of trees and other landscapes
done in a bold, colorful style will showcase her work. She will also
present some surprises beyond the “Branching Out” theme of this show.
Other juried gallery artists promise to bring their interpretations of
the “Branching Out” motif. The twin galleries are sure to be filled with
theme-related artwork in the forms of paintings, wood-turned art, pottery,
jewelry, stained glass, photography, mixed media,
fiber art, notecards and many other interesting
art mediums.
During this time of year when everything
looks gray outside, come into the Center Gallery
and Gallery Too for a pleasant burst of color. The
galleries are open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
An artists’ reception will take place Saturday,
January 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Plan to
attend this event to enjoy refreshments and to
meet the artists. Remember, all the art on display
and for sale in the galleries has been produced by local artists who live
within a 50-mile radius of the Sautee Nacoochee Center.
