SNCA School of Visual Arts
Fall 2009

  • Robin Swaby will teach all Fall courses.
  • Classes meet once weekly for ten weeks.
  • Video DVD is available for all classes except studio style classes, so you never have to miss a class!
  • Class sizes are limited to 10 students per class session.
  • We have a convenient art supply store for materials.
  • Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Tuition for each adult course is $230 for SNCA Members and $245 for Non-Members
  • Course duration: 10 weeks, 2 hours per week.

SNCA School of Visual Arts
Fall 2009 Quarter Courses

Intermediate/Advanced  Watercolor  “COLOR CONTROL” 
Mondays 1:00-3:00                                     

For watercolor artists,  this course presents exercises and class work focused on using a variety of color combinations and blends of pigments to  firm up your color choice  approach. Emphasis on color choices and various ways to use color in your painting while getting rich variations, will be the focus as you work from your own subject matter.

PASTELS: Intermediate
Mondays 4:00-6:00
This course is for the continuing pastel artist and those with some experience with the  medium. Studies in the medium will include exploration into new techniques and new substrate to work on,  preparing your own surfaces, as well as honing already acquired skills. Not a beginner class.

OILS: Intermediate to Advanced 

PALETTE Knife Skills
Tues 12:30–2:30
This course is for the continuing oil student who has taken at least one course of instruction already, or displays an understanding and ability to paint in oils. This class will focus on painting techniques using a palette knife in addition to regular brushes.  Various skills of palette painting knife will be taught  to enhance your own painting style.

ABSTRACTS 
Tuesdays 3:00 –5:00  
Unlock your imagination with a variety of techniques while we explore elements of design –line- shape - form and color in non representational expression. Develop your own unique vision as we try a variety of techniques and creative approaches as you work in  your own medium. Any Level.

COLOR CONNECTIONS            
Wednesday 11:00 am 1:00               
This informative course in color will help you learn to SEE color in new ways, and harmonize your color focus with exercises emphasizing  exciting color effects and variations of color combinations to use in your art.  You will work toward developing a color sense and increase your visual perceptions of color and how they will help to enhance your future artist endeavors. A little bit of color history and color symbolism thrown in for good measure!. 

Drawing: Begin to Draw in Perspective         
Wednesdays 1:30 -3:30
This class is for the artist who would like to enhance their drawing by learning easy skills to help with  accurately depicting simple perspective in their drawing. Good for beginners or those wishing to enhance their drawing skills by adding to the realism  depicted.
